Mitch Stephen has been composing music for over four decades. His journey began in the early 1970s, inspired by Dan Fogelberg's album "Souvenirs," which crystallized in him the realization that songwriters meticulously craft words and melodies from a blank page.
A unique artist, Mitch relies solely on his voice as his instrument, performing a cappella. Both the lyrics and melodies emerge simultaneously from his simple yet resonant voice. To bring his compositions to life, he collaborates closely with his preferred guitarist and pianist, who help outline the major chords of his songs. Under Mitch's keen direction, they then develop the arrangements, ensuring that each piece is crafted with care. Once the arrangement is perfected, he selects vocalists suited for each track, taking on the role of producer to ensure that the lyrics are delivered in a manner that honors their original intent.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Mitch is also an accomplished entrepreneur, having navigated multiple business ventures throughout his career. He has often remarked, "If God had given me the voice I wish I had, I'd have to work every weekend of my entire life… luckily, He just made me a writer." Reflecting on his extensive experience, he adds, "...and I'm going to get good at it any day now."
